Mya's Christmas Present

Ok so we are a little early but Jessica and I couldn't wait.  We decided to let Christmas come a little early this year to the Dimmick household.  We have known what we wanted to get our little munchkin for quite some time now but wanted to give it to her on Christmas.

If you don't know this Mya has a small obsession with playgrounds and swingsets...as do all children I guess.  She absolutely loves going to the park and climbing up and down the stairs and going down the slide.  She also loves the swings.  She is becoming more and more of a dare devil as she gets a little older.  She always wants us to swing her.  She always yells "higher daddy", "higher daddy".  She loves the thrill I guess.

The swingset now looks great in our backyard but it was definatley a small slice of heaven putting this little nightmare together.  My buddy and I decided that we would run up to Toys R Us and pick this thing up in his SUV.  After jamming this thing into the back and using rope to tie down the hatch we said a little prayer that this wouldn't fall out on the interstate on the way home.  We got back to my house and had to take it piece by piece into the backyard because it was just way too heavy for the 2 of us to carry.  I know I know it is hard to believe that he and I couldn't carry this thing in the back...I mean we have been working out.  Once we got it back there we got right to work.  3 Hours later and a few curse words that I would rather not repeat we had a swingset.   I have posted the video of Mya seeing it for the first time and also of her playing with it.  Unfortunately the weather has not allowed her to use it as much as we would have liked but she will enjoy this for a few years.  She absolutely loves it.  It was the perfect gift.

And here is another video just for fun!  Mya and her fantastic animal impressions!

More to come soon.  Stay Tuned......

Jacksonville Fair

I remember as a kid how much fun the county fair was.  The rides...the junk food...the games.  It was a great feeling to go and just have a great time.  People watching was always fun too.  I think I got that from my mom and my grandmother.  They can people watch with the best of them.

Jess and I took Mya to the Jacksonville fair a week ago.  We weren't really sure what to expect because obviously she is only 2 so we were getting ourselves into uncharted territory.  We thought that she might be too young to really enjoy herself.

We arrived at the fair and funny enough Mya didn't want to walk.  She HAD to ride in her stroller.  She kept screaming "stroller"..."stroller" so we let her come along for the ride.  The look on her face when we paid our way through the gates was priceless.  She could see the rides from the entrance.  We decided to go ahead and find the ticket booth so we could try the ride thing before it got too dark to get some pictures of her.  We could either buy individual tickets or we could buy an unlimited ride bracelet.  We opted for the individual tickets because we didn't think that she would last very long on the rides.  Wow were we wrong.  We have a little thrill seeker on our hands.  She absolutely loved the rides.  We first took her on the airplane that went around in circles.  She laughed the entire time with her hands straight up in the air.  Obviously these were kiddy rides but you can tell from the pictures that I had just as much fun on the rides as she did...haha.  We went from the airplanes to the bumble bees and she loved this even more.  She kept making buzzing sounds the entire time we were on the ride.  I couldn't believe that this bumble bee ride would hold me but it did...how embarrassing would that have been...probably just as embarrassing as a grown man in a bumble bee ride.huh.  We rode a couple more things then Mya laid her eyes on a pretty scary looking ride.  The Roller Coaster.  She HAD to ride this thing.  Just imagine how devastated she was when we found out she was a couple of inches too short...Oh well.  There is always next year.

At that point we were out of tickets and decided to go and check out the animals.  They have anything from pigs and cows to a dog show that does tricks.  She loved every minute of it.  I think the animals were glad to see her go!  I think her favorite were the little chicks.  She was trying her hardest to get in the cages with them.

After the animals we decide to go get some food.  Gotta love fair food...YUM.  I think for dinner we had a bucket of nachos with orange stuff that didn't even closely resemble cheese and a slice of pizza that was a little closer to being called a piece of rubber.  Mya had a corn dog for the first time and seemed to like it but Mya really eats just about anything.  She is my little bottomless pit.

All in all it was a great day.  Wish my sis could have brought the triplets down because I think they would have enjoyed it as well.  Maybe next year :).  I hope you enjoyed our fair trip...Stay tuned for more....

Halloween Festival

We found out that the Church across the street from our neighborhood was having a Halloween Festival on the Friday night before Halloween.  They were advertising many kinds of activities for a family to participate in.  There was face painting, inflatable bounce houses, and Trunk or Treating.  The trunk or treating is a pretty neat event.  The cars were lined up and down each row of parking spaces and the kids in their costumes were lined up walking from car to car and getting candy from the people who belonged to the church.  Each car was decorated in a different way and there was a theme associated with each.  Mya's face lit up when she saw all the costumes and all the cars.  Some of the cars were decorated in her favorite themes.  Candy Land, Mr. Potato Head, and an Icecream theme to name a few.  She loved going to the back of each car and saying "Tick or Teet".  It was the cutest thing.  We had her decked out in her Bumble Bee costume and she loved running around with it on making a buzzing noise.

After the huge line of kids lining up to get candy we decided to go to the section with the Bounce houses.  Mya isn't quite big enough to hold her own in the house of kids throwing themselves against the walls so we decided to just go to the face painting booth instead.  She had just as much fun!

The Halloween festival was a huge success.  Mya got tons of candy...most likely for mommy and daddy!!

Weekend

10/23/2010: The annual Airshow was held at the Naval base here in town.  Mya has had an obsession with airplanes for some time now so we decided to pack everyone in the car and head to the naval base for some family time and some fun.  The Blue angels are always a big show every year at the airshow.  The tricks that they do in the air are incredible to say the least.  It is always amazing to me how close the planes fly together and how many tricks they can do up in the air.  I know I would get sick if I were in one of those planes.  Mya absolutely loved the planes from a distance.  She didn't like the sounds they made when they did their fly overs.  I have to say it was pretty cute when she would cover her own ears.  She would yell out AIRPANE and smile while saying "they are noisy".  I think this will be an every year trip for the Dimmicks.

After the day at the airshow we decided to go to a corn maze here in florida for a haunted walk through a very intricate maze of corn.  We got a sitter for the night and a couple of our friends and us went up to Callahan FL to visit the Halloween festival they had up there.  They had a very detailed corn maze with 2 different paths.  The first path was a normal maze where you followed along a pathway until the path split.  There would be a post in the ground that would have a multiple choice question that you would have to read and choose an answer.  If you didn't choose correctly then you were lead down a path that would get you even more lost then the maze would.  After about 45 minutes the four of us finished this side of the maze.  It was quite creepy being in the middle of a corn field in the pitch black of night.  After we did the 1st side my buddy kyle and I decided to do the haunted side.  The girls wouldn't go with us...what wimps!!  I must say that if they had gone with us then I am quite sure that neither myself or kyle would be sleeping at night because the girls would have been scared to death.  We finished the haunted side and went to find the girls.  they had signed us up for a hay ride...what fun...(there might be some sarcasm in that).  The festival also had hot chocolate, smores, and other activities.  It was alot of fun and will definately be visiting the festival again.  Maybe next time we will go during the day so that Mya can come.  Stay tuned for more.....

Mya's First Pumpkin Patch

We decided to take Mya to her very first pumpkin patch on a Thursday night.  The local church down the road was doing a pumpkin patch to raise funds.  We went and needless to say Mya had a blast.  The smile on her face was worth every minute.  We walked in through a path of scarecrows all decorated up as the entrance to the patch.  There was even a little flock of sheep made out of pumpkins.  Mya loved them.  We then walked through what seemed like endless rows of pumpkins.  Mya crawled over and under and through each and everyone of them.  Of course she needed to touch every single one of them so that we could find the perfect one.  As we walked through the rows and rows of pumpkins we saw that there was a little maze for the children.  Mya wanted very badly to go through this maze.  It was amazing how quickly she navigated through the difficult maze.  I honestly only made it through because I could see over the tiny walls..haha.  After the maze we went back and decided to pick 2 of the pumpkins that Mya had picked out.  She is a very good pumpkin picker if I do say so myself.  Our first trip to a pumpkin path as a family was a huge success.  We will be carving the pumpkins this weekend :)  Stay tuned....

Test Blog

Surprise...We have decided to start a blog so that our family and friends can keep up with how the Dimmick family is growing.  Mya is now 2 and is growing with each and every day.  I can not believe that it has been 2 years.  She is growing so fast.  I still see my little baby girl when I look at her.  She makes me smile and she makes me laugh each and every day.
